About The Jesters Comedy Club

Welcome to The Jesters Comedy Club, Bath's very own comedy cellar. Walk down the stairs at 17 Alfred Street, just off the city centre and a short walk from the Circus and the Royal Crescent, and you're in one of the best things to do in Bath tonight: 50 seats, and a room built entirely around live stand-up comedy.

 

Nowhere else in Somerset blends the two things that make comedy worth leaving the house for: the discovery and energy of Edinburgh Fringe, and the sharp, fast wit of a New York comedy club. That's the standard we hold every show to, five nights a week, whether it's a name you already know or one you will soon.

 

We've hosted John Bishop, Glenn Moore, Jacob Hawley, Laura Lexx, Harriet Dyer, Ollie Horn and Ahir Shah, alongside many more rising acts who'll be the names people are talking about next year. It's why Jesters has become a regular stop for touring comedians on their way to and from the Edinburgh Fringe, and why locals treat us as Bath's go-to comedy club rather than a one-off night out.

 

Founder Sam Hawkins built the club from his own years on the Bath comedy circuit, starting with Pint & A Laugh at The Saracens Head, with a clear goal: a proper home for stand-up comedy in this city, run by comedians, for audiences who really love it. That vision won the Performing Arts & Music award at the Creative Bath Awards 2026, with Sam personally named as Young Creative of the Year.
